Q: Help needed with Aperture to Lightroom conversion

I'm doing testing with Lightroom and have a question regarding the folder structure after import from Aperture.  I see that the Import Preset in Lightroom creates a very nice folder structure that can be seen in the Finder - Year / Month / Event or Day.  But in the Folder panel in Lightroom all I see are the Event folders - it is like the entire folder structure is flattened and none of the parent folders (year / month) are showing.  So there are a ton of folders.  Why doesn't the Lightroom folder panel show the real folder structure in the Finder?  Is this normal?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1), null

This is the Aperture for Mac forum - detailed question about how to use LightRoom need to be posted in the Adobe LR forum or addressed to LR support

Thanks Larry.  Lightroom seems to be working just fine.  It is how they are handling the Aperture conversion that am questioning.  Maybe someone here will just say "yeh, that's the way it works after importing from Aperture".   I will definitely ask in the Lightroom forum.

Thanks Lanny - just to confirm - did you convert your Aperture Library to Lightroom using their preset "Import from Aperture"?  And you see parent folders as Years, and then Month folders, and in the month folders you see a folder for each day?

Solved - apparently after importing, none of the parent folders show in the Lightroom Folder Pane.  However there is a "show parent folder" option which has solved the problem

I tried that the first time. It worked okay, but after experimentation, I decided to use my own folder design based on folders named after my Aperture folders and Project names. Both Aperture and Lightroom offer referenced or managed folder and file capability. This time I'm using a referenced scheme with Lightroom. So, everything is Finder like organized, but it helps to use Lightroom to move the files around. If you use the Finder, Lightroom will lose track of the file's location.

Example of my folder structure, as seen by the Finder:

Lanny - Thanks for the info.  Just curious - do you have problems with Lightroom importing duplicates from your iPhone?  Lightroom seems to not recognize all my iPhone photos that were already in Aperture, and now in Lightroom, and wants to re-import them.
