Q: Notes changed after optimizing performance
Hi,
I Just worked on a song in Grageband on my iPad with a lot of sections and 16 different tracks (instruments).
So when I wanted to record a new part, the "optimizing performance" bar popped up (hope that's how it correctly translates from German to English). After that, I recorded.
So far, so good. But a few days ago, I did a couple of solos on a synthesizer track (in ghe same project). I used the scale option, so there's really no possibility of any "wrong" notes in these solos. But as I listened to the whole track, I noticed that these solos were sounding awful now, when they were sounding just fine after I played them.
Then I took a look at the notes in the "edit" function. The notes are still being displayed correctly, but Garageband simply does not play them right.
In some parts of the solo, I literally played the same note in a row a couple of times and after optimizing performance, Garageband put out a different pitch for each note!
So far, the only possibility to fix this that I have found, is to either play the solo one more time (which is rather difficult for a spontaneous solo) or go to the "edit" function, delete all the wrong sounding notes and put them back in by hand (which is rather tedious). Closing the song and opening it up again doesn#t change anything, neither does (force) closing the app and restarting it.
Has anyone ever experienced this problem? And is there a better way to fix this, or to prevent it from happening in the future? Does it have something to do with the project having a lot of sections and tracks?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
I'm using an iPad Pro and the latest versions of both iOS and Garageband.
iPad, iOS 9.2.1
