Mar 10, 2016 10:46 AM in response to ltchoffmanby ManSinha,★HelpfulWhen you got the phone and first accessed it - did it give you the Hello screen?
One normally cannot activate a phone unless one puts in their Apple ID
Also if you are dealing with an iPhone 4 then you are dealing with an older version of the Operating system
Go to Settings - iCloud (may be different on your phone) and see if it allows you to sign in
Also the Sprint network - as you know is a CDMA network and I am not sure an iPhone 4 will work on Sprint - you may want to just walk into one of their stores and talk to the people there
If memory serves Sprint did not get an iPhone until 4S

Mar 10, 2016 10:50 AM in response to ManSinhaby ltchoffman,Being new to iphones then I am sure it must be a 4S.
No Hello screen that I recall. I ported an existing number to that phone through the service provider and I did make a call to verify it. Since the phone became disabled I opened an appleid account, but the phone is not yet a listed device. Not sure how to do that.

Mar 10, 2016 11:13 AM in response to ltchoffmanby ManSinha,★Helpfulok - can you get into the device?
If so - Settings - General -Software update - what version is listed?
If you cannot get into the device - is it asking for a passcode or do you see a partial email like m****@disney.com that you cannot recognize?

Mar 10, 2016 11:07 AM in response to ManSinhaby ltchoffman,The home screen shows the date and time and states "iphone is disabled" "connect to itunes" When I swipe the screen it goes to an emergency dial screen and that is as far as I can go.

Mar 10, 2016 11:29 AM in response to ltchoffmanby ManSinha,If iTunes doesn't recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod - Apple Support
If iTunes doesn‘t recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod
If you connect your device to your computer with a USB cable but iTunes isn't recognizing your iPhone, iPad, or iPod, get help.
When iTunes on your computer doesn't recognize your connected device, use these steps. Try again after each step:
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iTunes that your system supports.
- Check that you have the latest software on your Mac or Windows PC.
- Make sure that your device is turned on.
- If you see a Trust this Computer alert, unlock your device and tap Trust. If the alert continues to appear, you might need to reset your lockdown folder.
- Unplug all USB accessories from your computer except for your device. Try each USB port to see if one works. Then try a different Apple USB cable.
- Restart your computer and iPhone, iPad, or iPod.
- To see if your device needs service, try another computer. If you have the same issue again, contact Apple Support.

Mar 10, 2016 11:31 AM in response to ltchoffmanby ltchoffman,Once again, I powered off the phone, disconnected the sync cable, reconnected while holding down the home button until the connect to itunes screen appeared. Then I released the button and nothing more occurs, it just stays idle.

Mar 10, 2016 11:35 AM in response to ltchoffmanby ltchoffman,What I failed to mention is that I purchased, and am now using a new sync cable, thinking the original may be defective. I will attempt to follow the instructions above and see what happens.
