I have opened 2 emails which were in the junk folder of my email and which contained each a zip attachment of 2KB and 3KB. As I could not opened them directly in my email, I opened the zip files using the "open in" another app option. When opening the zip files in that other app, I was asked if I wanted to extract the zip files to a new folder, which I accepted and inside the two files there were .js (javascript) files. I opened these .js files inside that same app and the files contained white text on a black background and which seems likely to be a script file. My question is: has my iPad Air been compromised with a virus scam, like trojans and password stealers especially banking Trojans like Dridex or Dyreza and ransomware like Locky, cryptolocker or Teslacrypt. If that was the case, then what is the solution to get rid of these..Thank you.

iPad Air, iOS 8.3

Thank you for your answer. I will do just as you said and will delete and reinstall the app in which I had opened these java scripts. I think people should be carefull when opening these emails coming from people or companies with genuine addresses and phone numbers but who may have been scammed by unscrupulous people for some sort of fraudulent scheme.

Indeed.

Standard Operating Procedure: I do not open attachments unless I know where they are form and am expecting them. Especially zip files.

I do not open attachments if I don't know where they come from but this time the scammers have tricked me into opening these files by making me believe that a "Dossier" (Document) was addressed to me from a Law Firm in Paris, France and I was curious to know why they should send me a "Dossier". The second file was from a company in Nottingham, England.

Scammers are getting smarter. They use subject lines that piques someone's interest and curiosity to open it. Keep in mind that it is very easy to spoof an email. Incoming mail may appear to have come from someone you know but they're actually from scammers.

I have a similar problem but not exactly the same. When on a website www.123freecell.com today it asked me to update my Adobe Flash. After doing so three files: Premium Opinion, Mac Sweep Plus, and Zip Cloud are now on my IPad. I cannot get rid of them and am now having problems downloading images on Constant Contact. I'm thinking this may be a data issue.

Has anyone else dealt with a similar problem?
