What do you mean by "support?" What did Dropbox say when you asked them?
Their reply was "Dropbox doesn't support your browser. For a better experience, upgrade to the latest version of Chrome, Firefox or Internet Explorer."
My Safari is version 5.1.10, which has worked with Dropbox before, and my Mac says it's up to date.
That's a pretty old version of Safari. I'm running Yosemite and the Safari version is 8.x. It works fine for me. Mostly, though, I use the DropBox app.
Contact DropBox and find out what is the oldest version of Safari that can access the service.
The Dropbox support site doesn't list specific versions of browsers not supported but recommends using one of the two most recent versions: https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/3
Safari version 5.1.10 is 2 1/2 years old and there are a number of websites that will object to that due to possible security issues due to the length of time since it has been updated. If you can't or don't want to upgrade your OS X to a later version that offers a more recent version of Safari, changing to something like Firefox https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ is a good idea for everything that you do, not just Dropbox.
I just tried using Safari to access Dropbox, no problems. Using Safari 9.0.3.
I normally use the Dropbox app and Finder plugin, so this was my first time using Safari for it. The app is much more convenient; Dropbox just appears as another folder in Finder.

Yes, but not the old version used by Snow Leopard.
I have been using Firefox to do some Dropbox uploads that I don't want to keep in the local Dropbox folder. It works fine in Snow Leopard.
