Q: Windows 10 in Bootcamp randomly wakes from sleep or does not sleep when the lid is closed?

I recently installed Bootcamp on to my MacBook Pro (11,3), and I am running Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit. Currently this is my primary operating system, as I run a variety of Windows only software for work. Disappointingly, I have found that Bootcamp does not give a completely perfect Windows experience. While I have been able overcome or overlook most of small the quirks and annoyances, one issue has me frustrated and concerned: When I close the lid, sometimes my MacBook Pro does not go to sleep, else it will wake randomly after being put to sleep. I cannot find a reason for it, and the real concern here comes from the fact that my computer lives in a Pelican Case for travel to and from work. Often times when I open the case at home, I find the computer has been running, and is burning hot to the touch. I fear that permanent damage may occur if it has not already.

Any help or insight into solving this issue would be greatly appreciated. I will also offer that this is not isolated to Windows 10. I had a previous Bootcamp installation with Windows 7 Ultimate about a year ago exhibiting the same problem. I briefly switched to running Parallels in an effort to avoid such issues, but had to go back to Bootcamp due to problems running certain software.

Thanks

With the lid of the MBP open, if you click on Sleep, does your Windows/Mac go to sleep? Do you have ACPI drivers in Device Manager?

    Loner T,

Yes to both questions... Strangely enough, it happened again this morning.  When I arrived here at work this morning, I found my MBP on and running when I pulled it out of its case, even though I put it to sleep last night before going to bed, and I did not open it before putting it in its case to take to work.

I am wondering if disconnecting external peripherals has something to do with it. I find that in some instances, but not all, that If I disconnect my Logitech mouse after putting the computer to sleep, that I get the typical windows chime indicating the disconnect of a USB device. Because of this, I have made it a habit to disconnect the mouse before I put the computer into sleep mode, in case it causes Windows to wake back up. (note: I did not have any external devices plugged into my MBP last night, save for power) I am wondering if disconnecting power also has an effect on the computer's sleep state, although my power settings should cause the computer to automatically go to sleep after 15 minutes while on battery, something else that doesn't seem to be happening either.

Any additional thoughts from you or anyone else would be greatly appreciated. I need to keep this setup going for another couple months until I have enough money saved to buy a Windows based laptop, which will allow me to return this MacBook Pro back to OS X permanently.

    Thanks

Do you have any peripheral devices set to wake the Windows side, like wake-on-LAN, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc?
