8th Generation Ipod Nano

I just bought a Nano labelled "8th Generation" yet Apple Support and Apple Sales told me that there are no 8th Gens and mine is a 7th Gen. based on my serial #. They base that on my Gold color. How can I find out for certain what Gen I have?

It is "7th gen 2015." Apple changed the color choices, and made a minor update to the onboard software (to change System Requirements for the version of iTunes and the computer's OS). The iPod itself is basically the same as the 2012 version, so it is still called a 7th gen nano by Apple. Some resellers (that are not the Apple Store) decided to call it 8th gen, to distinguish it from the 2012 version.
