can voiceover read a word document on a Mac?

I know voiceover can read text aloud in OS X built in apps, but can it do it in a word document?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.0.x)

Yes, the 2016 version of Office works with VoiceOver. You can read the text of a word document using VO. However, not all the features have been optimized for VoiceOver yet, and the specifics can be found here: https://support.office.com/en-US/article/Accessibility-in-Word-2016-for-Mac-f8d6 05c2-24e9-44b7-9cf6-4b226e6172d0?ui=en-U…
