    How would anyone but you know how much storage you need?!

     

    Buy the biggest hard drive you can afford.

    Bus powered like WD Passport? Light weight, quite and tiny. Full size? Can be larger but require power adapter brick.

     

    Data or Time Machine or what purpose?

     

    I would invest in multiple drives, two for TimeMachine each of which has a smaller partition for cloning the iternal drive, and are you going to purchase and use multiport dock adapter for USB3, USB-C, and video?
