Q: Export Final Cut Pro Projects through distributed encoding in Compressor

Hello everyone!

It is known that "Send to Compressor" through Final Cut Pro does not allow you to render it through multiple computers. Aka Distributed Encoding.

According to Compressor's App Store description, "- Speed up encoding in Final Cut Pro by choosing a group of shared computers for exporting."

Presumably, this states that you should be able to export a Final Cut Pro project and render it through distributed computing or shared computers.

Can anyone please tell me is this possible or what have I done wrong? Distributed encoding by dragging a file to compressor and render it works on distributed encoding.

I'm using the latest version to date of Final Cut Pro and Compressor.

Thanks!

Jimmy

    Hey Jimmy.

Despite what the App Store description might imply, I'd refer you to this support doc, which explicitly says distributed processing is not available via FCP X.

    All the best,

I kinda have a workaround for this. As exporting through uncompressed codecs are significantly quicker than directly to an compressed format. What I will do is:

    1. Export to uncompressed formats

    2. Compress it with Compressor+Distributed Encoding

This will reduce the time of rendering at last.
