Pdf attachment opens only first page and only saves as image

Hi there,

since about two or three weeks PDF attachements in mail (any mail, gmail, exchange, icloud) open only the first page. WhenI try to save it as (or open in other app, like for instance Adobe reader), it says 'save as image'. (On my iphone (6) the same thing Happens too). It happens only with PDF files, text, images, etc, no issues.

I deleted Adobe Reader, no avail. (iBooks, for example, does not come up as a 'save as' option)

I recovered the iPad with a back up from last week, no avail.

I deleted all my email accounts and installed them anew, no avail.

I Resetted my Ipad to factory settings and installed everything anew. Again, the problem with the PDF files is still there.

I Bought my ipad to avoid the use of printouts on paper, to save resources, but I now feel like the old school printed hard copies of documents were Way more handy and reliable (Tossing the iPad out of the window has crossed my mind many times the past weeks...:-( ;-)

Anyone who knows how to solve this? Many thanks,

Monique

ps I know my way around Macs pretty well , but I am not a programmer. ;-)

Bella Incognita:

I am having the same problem on my iPhone 6: Multi-page .pdf attachments displaying only the first page as an image in Mail.

Most of the time the attachments automatically download and open; however, only the first page of each .pdf attachment is visible as an image embedded into the body of the text area. Three attachments creates 3 first page images. No PDF attachments with icons shown at the end of the email. A long click on each image gives only three options: "Save Image", "Copy", or "Cancel". I cannot find any saved image in Photos or iBooks, so I have no idea where it goes. I also have no idea what happens to the subsequent pages of the multi-page attachments; they simply never appear. In the past, each attachment would download as a separate attachment. In the past, the built-in .pdf viewer would allow the user to "share" the attachments with other apps (e.g., PDF Expert, Evernote, AirPrint, etc.) through the "Share" sheet or tab after a long click. Such functionality is now gone.

(BTW: On the occasions when the .pdf attachments do not automatically download, I notice that various non-PDF icons (e.g., Evernote and WebEx) sometimes flash momentarily when I start the download. I wonder if the table that associates file types was somehow corrupted, but I have no idea where to look in iOS for the file association tables.)

So far I have tried the following WITHOUT success:

-Hard reboot (Hold power and home buttons for 15-20 seconds and watch the Apple logo do its thing).

-Restore iPhone from iTunes Backup.

-Delete some of the Apps that use the Share sheet (e.g., Evernote, WebEx, etc.) and hard reboot.

-Uninstall the email accounts; hard reboot; and reinstall the email accounts.

-Update from iOS 9.2.1 to iOS 9.3.2.

My next step was going to be to restore my iPhone to factory settings and re-install everything anew, but your post has me rethinking that strategy.

Did you ever get any resolution of this problem?

Thanks.
