Apple LED Cinema Display with PC

Ive recently just been given an LED Cinema Display but have just moved to PC for the majority of what I do. However when I try and use it with my PC( Plugged into my graphics card (Radeon R9 370) using a HDMI to mini display port female, which then the mini display port from the display goes into. However I get this problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70U_iGIgVos when doing it . Whats wrong with it ( the all in one cable coming out of it seems to be a little worn out but surely that wouldnt make it do this?)

Simple Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapters are for connecting HDMI displays to Mini DisplayPort. They will not work in reverse.

To connect a Mini DisplayPort display to HDMI you need a converter, such as:

This will give full resolution (1920 X 1200) with the Apple 24" LED display, but only half resolution (1280 X 720) with the 27".
