Any way of using 2006 iMac as an external display?

Hi,

I have an old (still functioning and useful) early 2006 iMac 20". Is there anyway I can set it up as an external monitor? It has a mini dvi connection but I'm not sure if this is out only? I have seen adapters that enable an external monitor to be added to the iMac but no mention of allowing the 20" iMac to act as an external display.I would like to connect a MacBook Pro 15" 2010 to it. Any chance?

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), 2010 15" i7 8GB RAM 500GB SSD

Hmmm, ye, I've just tried screen recycler - not very smooth at all. Alright for reading static text but if you scroll or move the window it pixilates and then has to redraw. As you say, the mini dvi is out only - I assume there is no way round this? A shame as it would have made a reasonable display and I have always liked the old white iMacs - oh well thanks for your help
