using a second hand purchased ipod

Hi,

I have purchased a used ipod touch.

It does not allow me to download anything since previous owner's e mail ID along with space for password pop up as default. Though I am registered for apple ID but I can not use my ID due to display of default ID. What do I do?

Could you please kindly help?
