IPOD CLASSIC NOT RECOGNIZED BY ITUNES

I HAVE CONNECTED MY IPOD CLASSIC 160 G TO MY MAC BOOK AIR AND IT'S STARTS CHARGING BUT ITUNES IS NOT SEEING IT.

I ALREADY CHANGED CABLE AND USB PORT, RESET IT AND RESTART MY MAC BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. WHAT CAN I DO MORE?

THANKS. GREG

Try putting the iPod into Disk Mode

Putting iPod into Disk Mode - Apple Support

Shut down (power off) the MacBook and disconnect all USB devices. Connect MacBook to its power adapter, if it's not. Start up MacBook. Then, run iTunes and connect iPod (in Disk Mode) to a direct USB port on MacBook, by itself. Is the iPod recognized in any way by the MacBook?
