Q: When adding motion blur into FCPX, is it possible to have it only affect one layer?
I am adding motion blur using the Motion 5 method, a title effect with motion blur properties on it.
My problem is, when I place motion blur over a layer, if I cut the motion blur to fit only over the clip I want motion blur added, the motion blur effect is less pronounced. However if I span it across multiple clips, the motion blur potentially affects clips I have sped up, added motion to, and in those areas I may not want motion blur, plus it adds a little bit of rendering time I would rather not have.
Is there a way to make the motion blur effect in Motion 5 where it is not affected by the length of the title effect?
A work around is making it into a compound clip, but that introduces more cutting and a harder time editing the source file if necessary.
I'm aware it's a confusing explanation and maybe an obscure problem, so I included pictures below to better show what I am questioning.
Thank you if anyone can help out!
Example:
Image when motion blur spans across the whole layer.
What it looks like in the timeline.
When motion blur is cut to size.
What it looks like in the timeline. The only motion blur affecting the title is the middle, the end two should have been deleted.
Note: In this example the motion of the title is only 3 frames, if the motion blur layer were cut to those 3 frames, motion blur would not show up at all.
