Ok, this isn't an ipad or Apple issue.

the issue is with your smart case, contact the manufacturer.

double check you have it on right.

If it's Apple smart case, make sure to check the settings on the device to enable sleep/wake.

Go to settings - general down to lock/ unlock make sure it on green.
