Q: Adobe flash is blocking HTML5 content on BBC.co.uk/iplayer with a box saying download Flash player, instead of allowing HTML5 content. How do I stop the Adobe flash update requests?

You are describing the actual problem. The video content is showing as HTML5. When you click on it, it changes to an Adobe flash update. I do not have flash installed on my iMac.

The BBC says on the top of the content box "HTML5 Player Beta". When you click on the play button, the Adobe update box appears.

Do you think this is a problem with the BBC HTML5 Player Beta? Why is the Adobe box appearing at all. It is blocking the HTML5 content.

I think the problem is not with Safari, but with the Adobe update box. When you click on the play icon, the HTML5 player starts. For one second, you can see the video controls appear, only to disappear, replaced with a Adobe flash update box.

The Adobe box says:

This content cannot be played in our HTML5 Player

Safari can run HTML5 without Adobe, so why do I get this Adobe message?

If I then click the play icon (bottom left corner), I get the following screen:

This looks like an Adobe text box, not a Safari text box.
