Q: Upgrade windows 7 to 10. How do I obtain Boot camp 6?

Boot camp control panel does not function in windows 10 and the trackpad does not work. I've downloaded, and installed, new drivers using boot camp assistant. Before upgrading I updated apple software in windows 7 using apple update. Boot camp is identified as version 4 - I'm guessing I need version 6 How do I get or what have I missed.

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), Mid 2012 model

W7 drivers are in Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp - Apple Support . The best method to check compatibility is to look for Product Version in Bootcamp.xml file.

You should have Boot Camp Assistant version 6.0.0 installed if your Mac is running OS X v10.10.3.

Right or control click the Boot Camp Assistant app your Applications > Utilities folder then click: Get Info

The current version is noted there.

This is one method of getting BC6 drivers needed for W10. Your drivers were 'upgraded' when you upgraded from W7 to W10, but not all drivers are compatible. Once you have these driver packages on a USBm run setup.exe from the Bootcamp folder.

Yes I tried that. I'm getting a warning now saying that the drivers are not intended for my computer. Trackpad etc still didn't function. I've gone back to Windows 7 unfortunately .
