I think you can go to the System Preferences Sharing Internet Sharing Share your connection from Wi-Fi To computers using iPhone USB... But only the iPad can connect to the Internet... I have no idea.
Do you mean you want to use the phone's internet connection on the Mac then see:

If you mean that the Mac has an wired internet connection and you want to create a wifi hotspot to use by the phone then see:

An USB connection to a Mac will NOT use the Mac's internet connection.

You can only share the phone's internet to a computer via USB.
It does not work the other way around, that is you can't share a computer's internet to a phone via USB
Why there is an option then, to share the macbook's wifi via iphone USB??????? It doesnt make sence
