Q: I am having NO luck finding iPhoto on my Mavericks update of last year.  How do I get it?

I had Snow Leopard on my purchased Mas of years ago.  I paid for the update to Mavericks at a Mac Store last year and have not been able to find the iPhoto icon so I can use this for photo organization and access.  I have tried free downloads and nothing seems to work.  I have tried one that said I had to have some 9.? version before I can download...so I have gone down, down, down to the earlier versions....no luck.  These say I can't download them.  How do I get iPhoto on my Mavericks update?

OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    You waited too long

iPhoto '11 (version 9.x.x) must be purchased and it is no longer available from Apple - you also need iPhoto 9.5.1 for OS X 10.9.5 and even if you purchase a version of iLife '11 I do not believe that the 9.5.1 upgrade is available so I do not believe you will be able to use iPhoto - if you can upgrade to El Captain you can migrate your iPhoto library to PHotos and use it

You best bet now would be to upgrade to El Capitan and Photos 1.3.  Although Photos has a slightly differ GUI it is still very much like iPhoto and has better editing capabilities.

This user tip will help you understand the new GUI a little bit better: Moments in Photos are the New Events

Yes, OT...I can upgrade to El Capitan...and probably will.  The tech at the Mac Store said (with my level of tech savvy, close to nil) I'd probably like Mavericks better than whatever the actual latest update was in early 2015.  And, it's been okay minus the fact that I lost iPhoto somewhere along the line and this was my GoTo place to find photos in chronological sequence.  Your link to ALLLL that an upgrade of iPhoto can do boggles me a bit.  I am an avid user of PhotoShop and plan to continue using that for most photo tweaking...but ya, nevuh know.  Anyway, thanks for the response.  Will upgrade in the hope that I'll be a happy Capitan.

iPhoto somewhere along the line and this was my GoTo place to find photos in chronological sequence.

That's exactly what the Moments window in Photos does, lists and groups them by date taken.
