Q: Time and Date Changes on its own

I have the iPhone 6s and it's updated to the latest ios software and for the past week I had issues with the phones time and date changing on its own. One minute it will show the correct time and date and then a few hours later the time and date would change and it keeps doing this several times a day. When the date and time changes, I am not able to use apps that connect to the internet (wifi and network), I am also logged out of apple id and cannot log back in. I also can't use iMessage. I went to the clock app to take off other timezones that were on the phone and I turned the set automatically option on and off and the time still changes back and forth. I also did a factory reset and the date and time still changes automatically on my phone and I still have wifi and data issuses. I'm thinking that I need to take this phone to a diagnostic center or the apple store but I am not sure. I need help

    Hi there freshx391,

It sounds like your date and time are intermittently changing on their own even after you restored the phone as new. Normally that will remove software as a culprit but I am not certain that this is a hardware issue, but you certainly do have the option to have it evaluated at an Apple store or an Authorized service provider:

    iPhone Repair - Apple Support

According to the following article you may need to reach out to your carrier for assistance with the automatic date and time functionality:

Get help with the date and time on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    1. Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS.
    2. Turn on Set Automatically in Settings > General > Date & Time. This will automatically set your date and time based on your time zone.
    3. Make sure that your time zone is set correctly. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone.

If you still have issues setting your date, time, or time zone, you can turn off Set Automatically in Settings > General > Date & Time and manually set the time and time zone. Or contact your carrier.

The option to turn on Set Automatically might not be available with all carriers or in all countries.

If the time on your iOS device is wrong after you sync it with your computer, your computer's time might be wrong. Check the time on your computer in System Preferences > Date & Time. You might want to select "Set date and time automatically."

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
