Mac OS XI replied in a different topic you created, which seems to ask the same question. This was my reply post there...
Do you see the iPod on the Desktop, or in Finder window? If you do, Eject the iPod from there and disconnect it. If you don't see the iPod there, run Disk Utility. Do you see the iPod in the Disk Utility sidebar? If you do, select the iPod and unmount it, then disconnect it. If it does not appear in Disk Utility either, just disconnect it; you may get an error message. Quit iTunes if running. If it's been a while (like a few weeks) since doing a restart on the Mac, you may want to do a restart of the Mac.
Put the iPod into Disk Mode
Putting iPod into Disk Mode - Apple Support
Run iTunes and connect the iPod (in Disk Mode) to a direct USB port. If iTunes picks it up, it may prompt you to do a Restore with a message about "recovery." If you're OK with erasing the iPod, do the Restore. The iPod should appear in iTunes after the Restore.
Did you try my suggestion?
