Once you are in Songs view, click the column heading for Album to get everything sorted together by Album.
If you click it a few more times, you will see additional options, including "Album by Artist." Keep clicking and pick the sort you like best.

windows are filled in. I get that but at the end of the process I am still left with dozens of icons when what I really want is a concise listing as I have illustrated in my first diagram. I simply want the words - no icons. I thought that perhaps there would be something in the View menu that could achieve this but if there is I don't know where it's hiding. Ttibsen,
In iTunes, Albums view gives you those icons. If you want the list (columnar) view, choose Songs view. However, Songs view does not offer the secondary sort.
Too bad you can't get a list view in Albums is all I can say. Why you can see a list view in Songs but not in Albums is beyond me - both should be available.
Thanks for your help with this.
