My macbook pro does not have an ethernet port. How can I connect when my wifi is spotty, but the wire is fine? Thanks!

the USB-to-Ethernet adapter is good for speeds up to 100M bits/sec. That is more than adequate for most uses. Most Internet connection speeds are well under 100M bits/sec.

If you routinely do large-scale computer-to-computer file transfers (not just Backups), a somewhat more expensive ThunderBolt to Ethernet adapter is also available, and it will do Gigabit Ethernet.

EDIT: same price, but ties up a ThunderBolt port.
