Q: Updating the software on my MacBook?

When I try to update the software of my (pretty old) MacBook, it sends me to the Store. I click on download, but for some reason it then sends me back to the explaination of the update itself. Again, I press download but it sends me back to the Store, and this goes on and on and on. Can anybody help me updating my software?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Are you running 10.5.8 Leopard? On the older operating systems. Snow leopard and older, the update are thru software update and not the app store. Under the apple in the upper left corner, should be. About this mac and then software update. Leopard did not have the app store.

What are you trying to update? "Pretty Old" isn't very helpful, look under the Apple menu - About this Mac and tell us which Macbook you have.
