i cannot set the print area

I try to print a table with A1 to C4 , or even chose one cell, from an Excel Worksheet. Normally select the table, then go to File/page set up/ and click "Set print area".Now the "set Print Area " is greyed out, that means I cannot set the area.

When I press print , it goes to review, and it will display the preview saying it is going to be a document with 43 pages. the first page is a complete Excel sheet with many closed lines.
