What is the exact model of your AirPort Extreme base station? What is the make & model of the Internet modem that the Extreme is connected directly to using an Ethernet cable?

I am assuming that you successfully installed the SoundTouch app on your computer ... correct? If so, what was the result of using the app to connect your SoundTouch system to your home's Wi-Fi? Were you able to connect to your Wi-Fi?

As Bob has already mentioned, the (currently latest) Bose SoundTouch 20 systems do NOT support AirPlay. However, both the Series I & II still do. For Series III, they do support Bluetooth and, according to Bose, they work with the SoundTouch application for streaming over Bluetooth.

The protocol that is used to stream audio over Bluetooth is called Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP). All iOS devices support this protocol, except the original iPhone. The newer Macs do as well. The only thing I don't know is if your Bose Series III does.
