Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
I see that your iMac is booting to a black screen and fan noise. I would start with the following article to sort out startup issues.
Best regards.

I've tried to eliminate display as a problem. All symtoms named below occures to me, appart from the third one:
- You may hear a startup chime.
- You may hear fan or drive noise.
- You may see a light from the Sleep LED (if your Mac has one).
- Pressing the Caps Lock key on the keyboard causes it to light.
The problem is that article refers to macs with external displays, which is not my case (I have mac with integrated display - iMac). So I don't realize what should I do.

Mar 16, 2016 11:19 AM in response to siliconacby jeffd55,Hello siliconac,
It does sound like you are looking at a display issue with your iMac. Did you try the following link: Troubleshooting: My computer has no video from the section "Rule out display issues"? While the article is titled "Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac" many of the suggestions will also apply to your iMac display.
If nothing here helps, there is a link at the bottom for suggestions if you need to get more help.
Cheers
