Can I connect apple tv ethernet via mac mini and connect to my network?

I am having serious problems streaming content from my Mac Mini Home Sharing with Apple TV (Gen 3). I connected my Apple TV directly to my Mac Mini and the streaming is blazing fast, but now I've lost internet connect and only have the Computers and Settings icons on the Apple TV display. Can I have the Apple TV connect to my Mac Mini and still have internet access?

I signed out of Home Sharing on the Mac Mini and logged back in and BOOM, the Apple TV recognized the computer and is streaming content on Home Sharing and the Apps. The Internet Sharing option seemed to do the trick. Not sure why I was having the connection problem with Home Sharing via WiFi, but I'm just fine having the Apple TV connected to the Mac Mini via ethernet. Thanks for the assistance.

The wifi works fine on both the Mac Mini and the Apple TV. I can stream content from the Apple TV apps and iTunes. My issue is when I try to stream content from Home Sharing via wifi - dead crawl. Very long buffering and slow connection. When I connect with Apple TV directly to the Mac Mini via a cat 5 cable, it streams Home Share contect blazing fast, but I lose the wifi App content.

Confused by this... On the Apple TV the network settings are in Settings -> General.

If your Mac mini is connected to your network via Wifi, on the Mac mini go to System Preferences -> Sharing -> Internet Sharing. Then configure it to share FROM WiFi TO Ethernet.

I connected the Apple TV via ethernet after enabling Internet Sharing on the Mini Mac. It allows the Apple TV to connect via ethernet for App content, but when I try to access Home Sharing it give me the message to turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on the computer using my Apple ID. iTunes is open on the Mac Mini and Home Sharing is signed in. The Apple TV isn't recognizing the computer.
