No Haptics on Calendar Event?

Is it just me, or is everybody else also not getting haptic feedback on Calendar events?

It pops up on the screen, but it doesn't buzz my wrist, nor beep me.

Haptics are all turned on, and other types of events do "buzz me."

In the Watch app, Calendar is set to mirror iPhone (although I've tried "Custom" as well), and in my iPhone, "allow notifications" in Settings/Notifications/Calendar are on.

When asking a question on Apple Support Communities, it is helpful to provide accurate information about the products and software versions that you are using. 🙂

The information provided in your question includes: "Apple Watch, Watch OS 1.0.1, Grey Sport".

Providing accurate information at the outset - along with details of any troubleshooting steps that you may have already tried - helps to avoid duplication of effort and/or irrelevant suggestions.

I also don't get haptic notifications for upcoming calendar appointments.

In Notifications on the watch - set to Custom / Show Alerts / Upcoming Events On / Show Upcoming Event Alerts (on), Sound (on), Haptic (on).

I get a sound notification on the watch but no Haptic. Other notifications work as expected (ie sound and haptic).

Try these steps:

- On your iPhone, go to: Settings > Sounds: under the heading Sounds And Vibration Patterns, tap on Calendar Alerts > tap on Vibration > instead of None, choose any vibration pattern (eg Quick).

With this setting enabled on your iPhone - and with all Apple Watch settings also suitably configured via the Watch app - you may find that your watch now provides haptic alerts for Calendar events.

Jonathan UK's answer was very helpful, and I think I understand how to view it now:

My goal was to have my Apple Watch buzz me (and maybe beep me) when a Calender appointment "goes off," and for my iPhone not to. I therefore turned off sound and vibration on my iPhone and on on my Apple Watch.

Best I can tell, that logic -- that if your Apple Watch is on, it will alert you instead of your iPhone -- is implicit/assumed. Therefore, if you shut off alerts on your iPhone, it shuts off alerts altogether: Not just on your iPhone but also on your Apple Watch.

There is no need to turn off / shut off notifications on one device or the other.

Instead - with Wrist Detection turned on - how notifications behave depends on the status of your devices. In order to bring notifications to your attention as soon as possible:

- If your iPhone is unlocked, you will receive notifications on your iPhone instead of on your watch.

- If your iPhone is locked or asleep and your watch is unlocked (regardless of whether the watch screen is asleep or awake) and on your wrist, you will receive notifications on your watch.

- If your watch is locked or has Do Not Disturb enabled, notifications will go to your iPhone.

Thank you very much. This is really helpful and has solved a problem I have been trying to fix for ages. Everything other than the calendar was providing a haptic alert, but the calendar wasn't and I couldn't understand it. Your suggestion worked perfectly.

Hopefully in future IOS releases for the Watch, Apple allow us more autonomy on the watch settings instead of having to couple everything with the phone's settings.

Glad to have helped! 🙂

If you would like to suggest that Apple considers adding different / additional settings options for Apple Watch, you can do so here:
