Replaced motherboard: MacBook Pro Powers up, but black screen
Hi I have a MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2011) 2.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 4 gigs of ram with a Early 2011 Motherboard replacement motherboard 820-2914-B 661-6083.
My cat knocked over a bear that was sitting next to my Macbook. Unfortunately it spilled the liquid on the keyboard area, I immediately unplugged the unit, powered down and turned it over to remove the liquid. then I wiped the keyboard area. I disassembled the unit and inspected it for water damage, I just saw liquid on the motherboard and dc jack. I wiped down the parts with a cloth. The mother board and dc jack with a lint free cloth. I let the parts sit for a few days to dry.
I reassembled everything and attempted to power the unit up but could not get it to power up. I figured since its more expensive to purchase a new mac, I might as well do the repairs myself since im pretty proficient with pcs, but not macs as much.
I purchased a new motherboard matching the model number of the failed motherboard, along with the internal DC jack. installed the two.
The unit powers on and I get the apple sound, but I get no display from the lcd. I tried to plug the unit into a HDMI monitor using the thunderbolt cable but I could get no display at all. I can hear the unit's fans spin up to its full capacity right off the bat which makes me think there is still something wrong on the motherboard even after it was replaced. Anyway I tried the follow to see if I could get it to reset:
I tried reset the system management controller using the Shift+Control+Option+Power button at the same time for a few seconds
I tried a pram reset, which did not work at all.
is there any other troubleshooting steps I could do to locate the problem?
