FCP X Crash/hang on paste text

I'm still having this issue, over a year and a half after the original post on this. I have months of work coming up where I will have to copy and paste Chinese subtitles and this is where another problem occurs (apart from the usual freezing when using titles, especially when pasting text in via the Inspector) that the Chinese fonts don't work properly - only some of them change when you try to do that and the same font and size etc often look different or different in the same set of characters. My workaround to this has been to find a font in subtitles that does work consistently... Hopefully my client will accept this font.

The workaround to the freezing/crashing issue mentioned above doesn't seem to work with me as the text merely disappeared when I pasted it straight into the text field on the monitor window. Seems very buggy in titles - any chance of a fix?

Exact same problem here. Entering text crashes constantly. Pasting text crashes constantly. Trashed preferences also, etc.

CCould you give details. The OP talking about copying from PowerPoint. What are you doing?

WHat are your system specs? Similar to the OP.

Same thing for me, copying text from powerpoint. System spec late 2015 iMac full loaded BTO. Current FCPX/El Cap.

For me it doesn't matter what text i copy and paste. Word, Notes, etc. All gives the same problem.

I do not have this issue at all. Tried just now copying text from various Mac applications and pasting text into various FCPX 3D text items and text clips.

Reinstalling FCPX is often suggested for truly weird and irreproducible glitches. It's easy, just takes some time and patience.

I did an reinstall of FCPX when FCPX crashed at editing text. It didn't resolve the problem.

It does not matter whether the library is on an external hard drive, or not. It crashes every time.

AAny title? Any chance of getting the file you're copying from?

Yes, I've tried several titles and avery time I want to make a change, it stucks.

After a crash, it is always a good idea to delete preferences.

Also, create a new project and try. There may a corruption in the project you were working in. If that is the case, then select all, copy and then paste into a new project. Hopefully that will fix it.

I will try to delete the preferences.

The problem appears in multiple projects, events and libraries.

Same problem. Trashing FCPX Preferences didn't help. The way around is if i want to use similar layout usually i was duplicating the title generator and editing it. Now once tired to edit FCPX crashes so i need to create new title and then paste the text. But it takes to long... Also i've noticed when reopening the project previously formatted text loosing some formatting such as line spacing. Apple Help please...
