Q: Can’t download episodes from your feed

Hi,

I am trying to submit my podcast to iTunes and I get the following error: Can’t download episodes from your feed.

My feed is at
http://podcast.salihkunduz.net/feed/

It's a wordpress based site and I am managing the podcast settings through the Blubrry powerpress addon.

iTunes can see everything right, including my cover art, category and so on as I set from the blubrry powerpress. It also can see my only one podcast example but it says that it is unable to download podcasts from my feed.

I upload files to my own hosting which is at http://salihkunduz.net and the podcast.salihkunduz.net is a subdomain for my podcasts.
The podcast file which iTunes can see but can't download is at
http://salihkunduz.net/downloads/Android_audio.mp3

What can I do to get it work?

Any help is appreciated.

When you submit a feed the Store checks only the top episode. Your top episode has no media file, hence the error you are seeing. Your second episode (from the top) does have a media file and this is OK and appears when the feed is subscribed to in iTunes. So you need to remove the top episode, which appears to have no content anyway.

One other point: your image is the correct sixe at 1400 x 1400 px but is rather large at 881kB. It was the case that the maximum allowed file size was less than 500kB: it's not clear whether this restriction is still in place but you might want to consider increasing the compression before submitting again.

Hi, changing my feed url from

    http://podcast.salihkunduz.net/feed/

    to

    http://podcast.salihkunduz.net/feed/podcast

Solved the issue. The validate status tells me that it's ready to submit.

    Hi Roger,

I am having a similar issue. After approving my podcast for a few episodes, today it was rejected. I edited what I thought might be the problem, and renamed my feed. Now I am getting the "Can't download episodes" error. My feed is at http://feeds.feedburner.com/loveandshit. I go through podbean, wordpress, and feedburner. Thanks for any advice you may have!

The URL given for your media file in your top episode (the other sappear to be similar) is

    http://loveandshitpodcast.podbean.com/mf/play/g2vjvh/Love_****_Ep_5_.mp3&quo t

(The forum software has censored the URL, see below.) Obviously you need to remove the '&quot' from the end, and this applies to all your episodes. Once done, the URL works.

There is another issue; I would expect your podcast to be rejected because you have a four-letter word (which the forum software won't allow me to post) in your titles. You are not allowed strong or sexual language in titles, subtitles or summaries, even if the 'itunes:explicit' tag is set to 'yes', as your is. I would also expect disguising the word by substituting an asterisk for the 'i' not to be allowed either. I might be wrong about this, so you could always try, but it's something to consider.
