Podcast Library Glitching

Okay so recently I've been adding .mp3 files from a website I frequent and for the sake of listening I change them to podcast files. Lately though whenever I go to the podcast library I'm completely unable to select anything, because itunes goes glitchy. Switching between X (the podcast equivalent to unknown artist) and whatever podcast author I select every two seconds. I can't exit or select anything else when this happens. This is irritating as **** and I'm hoping somebody has a solution.
