Charging problem - no light on the connector and slow charging.

Hello,

I have problem with my MacBook Pro A1278, Late 2008. From yesterday I had problem with charging. The light on the connector is not showing either green/red color. I get icon on the battery with a service key on it and message: Condition - Replace now, Battery is not charging.

In fact for 2 hours charging the battery, which is plugged in the electricity, moved from 18% to 31%, but really slowly. If I plug out the cable, the mac stops imediatelly.

My question is: It is possible the problem with the lights (green/red) to refer to the old battery, because yesterday it was showing me colors? I also try different charger and the same thing. Or the problem could be on the motherboard, some fault? I measured the Voltage and on the charger and in the Pins inside the mac it is around 16,7V. Till yesterday the mac stayed on battery for 1, sometimes hour and a half before next charge. Other thing is that if I remove the battery from mac, it won't start anyway.

Can I test something?

I have the same problem on my daughters 2009 Macbook. It also will not start with battery removed. In my case the battery shows as normal. What I found is: the magsafe does show green, but it is very hard to see as it is very faint. I downloaded Coconut Battery app. to check the battery. It shows that there is a charge going on. But at such a slow and low rate that the battery app for the Macbook operating system does not pick it up. Have already changed the DC InBoard and the internal battery cable. This did not fix it. So, It is a problem with the logic board. As long as she keeps it plugged in or does not unplug and run it down past 40%, it will slowly charge back up. This may be your problem as well. If you wish to know for sure, you would need to have the apple genius bar check it. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/#idDownload
