If you cannot add files, you don't have write permission for the drive. That is why you can't delete, also.

If you Mount the disk Image and Get Info on the mounted volume, what are your permissions?

You might try checking the box to Ignore ownership on the volume.

I did the same thing. Created an encrypted .dmg file/ read/write, mounted it and had no problem deleting files from it.

FWIW, it's possible the file in question was still marked as open before you created the .dmg image. Which would explain why it couldn't be deleted.

I'm sure you wouldn't. I just meant still marked as open, i.e. a permissions problem. but I'm not certain.

I''m really not sure. You could try creating a new encrypted image on your internal drive and see if that helps. Other than that, perhaps Linc or someone else will know.

It sounds like the disk image is corrupt. I suggest you create a new one and transfer the files to it, or preferably, transfer them from the original source.
