Q: Can't Download Episodes From Your Feed

I am trying to connect my podcast feed to iTunes and I keep receiving the error message 'can't download episodes from your feed'. I am using Feedburner and my podcast is hosted on Google Drive. My podcast is also linked through Blogger. I checked my Enclosure Link in Blogger and changed it from https to http but that did not seem to help. I do notice that when I click 'Play Now' from my feed, the address is still https. I wasn't sure if that had something to do with it. I have the settings in Google Drive set to 'Anyone With the Link Can View'. Any help would be appreciated!

It seems (to my limited knowledge) that google drive is not an appropriate host for itunes podcasts...

The media link to the first episode's mp3 file is http://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bw_8nEOdumgiel9YS185Uy01VzQ#

Itunes looks for a direct link to a valid media file (ie, the mp3 file itself), which is different to that media link.  You may need to look for a different hosting arrangement, or google whether anyone has gotten around this.

Other cast validator's have a similar problem.  eg: http://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=http://feeds.feedburner.com/TwoPeachesInAPodca st  While it does have a link to the media file, you'll notice that the "controls" section is blank.

Compare it to my podcast: http://castfeedvalidator.com/?url=http://stbarnabas.davidblowes.com/sermonpodcas t  where under the "controls" section is actually allows you to play the file.

Firstly, the media file URL must include the extension, e.g. .mp3, otherwise iTunes can't tell it's a media file.

Secondly, you must provide a direct link to the actual file which, when entered in a browser, plays the file directly in the browser, not in an embedded player or as a forced download.

Your media file at the URL you quote above (though without the hash on the end) is in fact a web page with an embedded player and a top bar, and so won't work. I don't know whether it's even possible to get a proper URL out of Google Drive, but all the evidence is that it's not a suitable place to host your media and I would strongly advise finding somewhere else to host it. It doesn't have to be a specialist audio server, any ordinary web server will do provided that it can handle 'byte range requests', the method used by iPhones.
