I'm getting a beep at odd intervals, nothing appears on screen.

It's a simple beep, sometimes repeats at an interval for a few times, then stops. I did have a crash after one beeping episode, don't know if it's connected.

Late 2009 27 inch, Yosemite.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

Thanks, Alex...BUT...this is not a startup tone. It happened after the computer had been on for an hour or so, in an application.

I didn't time the beeps, nor count them. I'll do that if/when it happens again.

Maybe I should also say: this is the most unstable Mac I've ever had, and I've had quite a few. It had the HD warranty replacement, which helped some, but it's never been truly reliable...I've worn off the letter markings on command/S, because I've become a compulsive saver.

Now, I' wondering about a bad ROM...
