My iMac won't sleep

I set my iMac display sleep and computer sleep to start after 3 minutes of inactivity, but for the past 2 weeks, only the display goes to sleep. I've tried restarting my computer, and shutting it down for a day, but every night when the computer is still on, i can hear the disk spinning even though the display is black and the computer should be entirely asleep. Clicking the sleep button at the top left hand side also doesn't put my computer to sleep, only my display. What suggestions do you have?

Please launch the built-in Activity Monitor application and select the Energy tab. Select

View All Processes

from the menu bar, if it's not already selected. Also select

View Columns Preventing Sleep (or Power Assertion)

Click the heading of the Preventing Sleep column to sort the process table. Which processes, if any, show Yes in that column?

Please open the Printers & Scanners pane in System Preferences. Select a printer, then click

Open Print Queue...

If the printer status is "Paused," click the Resume button in the queue inspector. If there are any unfinished jobs, either finish them or delete them.

If you can't clear out the print queue or get the printer out of Paused status, delete the queue and recreate it.

Repeat with each printer.
