Q: My Apple Watch won't charge!

My dead Apple watch won't charge. When I went to plug it in, the screen showed a thermometer and cut back to black. It still won't charge or show any signs of charging. Please help?

Try a different charger if possible

Keep it on the inductive charger for at least 60 minutes

If it does not show evidence of charging you may need to send it to Apple for further testing

    Hi

You are describing the temperature warning screen. This can appear when Apple Watch experiences above normal temperatures and needs to regulate its internal temperature. When this happens, things you may notice (besides the warning) include that charging might stop or charging times might increase.

Upon seeing the temperature warning, follow these steps:

    • If you are wearing your watch, remove it from your wrist and turn it off.
    • If the screen is shown when attempting to charge your watch, remove it from the charger.
    • Move your watch to a cooler place and allow it to cool down before wearing or charging it again.

Apple Watch is designed to work best in ambient temperatures between 32° to 95° F (0° and 35° C). It should not, for example, be left in direct sun for a long time, subjected to dramatic changes in temperature or humidity or left in a car on hot days.

Storing and using your watch outside of the recommended temperature ranges may shorten the battery life and/or cause other damage.

    This is incorrect.

Your watch should instead be removed from the charger, as described in my previous reply.
