Mar 16, 2016 8:29 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby Dave314,Thanks for that tip. I went ahead and tried that as well, with the computer plugged into my LAN. However, it didn't connect me to the Apple servers. All I've got is the Apple symbol and spinning wheel, still.
Any other thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated.
Dave

Mar 16, 2016 8:30 AM in response to Dave314by Linc Davis,The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

Mar 16, 2016 11:07 AM in response to Dave314by OGELTHORPE,★HelpfulYou may have a poor Internet connection.
Try this. Boot your old MBP into Target disk Mode with the new MBP as the target:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201462
Erase the HDD on the new MBP and then use a third party utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner to copy from the old MBP to the new.
Or, use the old MBP to make a USB El Capitan installer using DiskMaker X.
Then use that to erase the HDD and install El Capitan OSX.
Ciao.

Mar 16, 2016 8:55 AM in response to OGELTHORPEby Dave314,Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try once I find a Firewire cable to make that work.
EDIT: Meant to mention - I don't believe the internet connection is an issue, I've got a good one.
