Q: OS X Server 5 El Captain configuring LOM Status

Doe anyone know how to configure a Lom port for OS X Server 5, Xserve3,1 running El Captain 10.11.3.  Little and/or no information can be found. Surely apple hasn't overlooked this.

LOM configuration is done via Server Monitor, which connects to the Server Tools running on the server. Since there is no Server Admin for El Capitan (unless I'm missing something), I don't know that the standard rules still apply.

The big question is whether the LOM port appears in the Network preferences on the server itself? If it does, the same options may work, or you might need to use the ipmitool command line utility.

Thanks for the info Camelot, I find it useful, all of our xserves failed to show the LOM in network preferences even the servers with the LOM port configured correctly.  If I recall the ports on earlier versions were configured during server setup.  No such luck on a clean install and setup of OS X Server 5. Read the information in terminal concerning "man ipmitool," no success there. I'm almost sure there is a way to configure the LOM port and if others have configured the LOM port would be very interested with additional direction.  We use ARD to remotely monitor things and LOM port is very important to us.

Found the solution to adding a LOM port to Server 5 on Xserve3,1. download the LOM configurator from: http://www.pixeleyes.co.nz/xservelomconfigurator/  and install and configure the LOM port then you can Monitor from Apple Remote Desktop, or alternatively you can download the app "Luminous" (price $9.95) from the app store to monitor the server remotely on a Mac running El Captain.
