Q: Submitting podcast from libsyn

Me and my friends are new to podcasting and we have just produced our first episode of our podcast.  We use libsyn to host it and for the RSS feed.  Once we published it on libsyn I tried to find it in iTunes but couldn't, if I pasted the RSS feed in to the 'Subscribe a Podcast' section then I could find it but not in the iTunes store or by searching.

I then thought that the best way would be to create an account for the podcast and use the Submit a Podcast section in the iTunes store, I have used the RSS feed from libsyn in this section and then submitted it manually, it validated ok and I am just awaiting the result of the review.

Have I done all this right? It seems confusing to me that I can find the podcast in itunes by subscribing to the RSS feed before I have even submitted anything properly to iTunes, or does libsyn submit it for me automatically? Did I need to open an account and manually submit the feed or have I duplicated it? Will I have to submit every episode now or will it do it automatically?

Sorry about all the questions, but I'm a bit confused by all this.

Thanks in advance for any help, the rss feed is http://educatingbrad.libsyn.com/rss

You do need to submit your RSS Feed to iTunes - ONE time.

There are two separate processes here. You can subscribe manually in the iTunes application, entering the feed URL in File>Subscribe to Podcast...

This then applies only to your own iTunes application. The full process is to submit the feed to the iTunes Store. The process is described here:

    http://wilmut.uk/submit

That section of my page will answer all your questions in detail, but briefly:

    1. You submit the feed to the Store.
    2. The feed is evaluated by the Store staff to make sure it's acceptable. This can take two or more weeks.
    3. They email you to tell you you've (hopefully) been accepted and give you the URL of your Store page.
    4. Your podcast appears in the iTunes Store. From there people can subscribe to it (this has the same result as subscribing manually, the Store effectively acts as an agent).
    5. When you want to add an episode you simply add it to the feed; there is no need to re-submit (indeed you can't). Subscribers will see the new episode pretty well immediately but the Store usually takes 1-2 days to catch up.
