Q: My old apple ID no longer is valid but tell the pop ups that

My old apple ID keeps popping up on my new phone. I did not do a fresh sync because i was looking for some lost pictures.Which I never found. I think that created an issue for me. I created a new apple id with the old apple id email to see if I can delete the account. I can't figure out how to delete it and I want to make sure there is nothing in it if I do.

Is it possible to merge two cloud accounts?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 9.2

You cannot create a new Apple ID with an e-mail address that was associated with an Apple ID.
Also you cannot merged or transferred one Apple ID to another.
You need to retrieve your old Apple ID here:
https://appleid.apple.com

Thank you but I did try that and it did not work for me. I read on the apple forums to recreate with the same ID and delete and delete it.
Strangely it did allow me to use the old email address,but I still can't get any apps or do anything on my phone.
Any ideas?

Do you have a valid credit card associated with the Apple ID?
