Install Windows 8.1 to Macbook Air 13.3 Mid 2012

My El Capitan is up to date. I launch Boot Camp Assistant but the directions are for Windows 7 and it does not accept my Windows 8.1 ISO. That's the ISO I've purchased.

MacBook Air, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), i7, 8GB, 500SSD

Hi there cibinlik,

Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.

When installing Windows 8.1 on your MacBook Air, make sure to follow the steps in Use Windows 8.1 on your Mac with Boot Camp:

Perform a new install of Windows 8.1

Use these steps if you're installing Windows on your Mac for the first time.

  1. Use the list at the end of this article to make sure you have a Mac that supports Windows 8.1.
  2. Check for software updates to make sure OS X, your Mac firmware, and Boot Camp Assistant are up to date.
  3. Open Boot Camp Assistant from the Utilities folder (or use Spotlight to find it).
  4. Use Boot Camp Assistant to install a new copy of Windows.

It looks like you're using a Mac that meets the system requirements for Windows 8.1. Next, make sure all the software on your Mac is updated.

Best Regards.
