Searching for imported music on iPhone

I have many songs imported to iTunes, that are also on my phone, but I am unable to search for them using Spotlight search or the search tool in Music. The only way I can find these songs is by locating playlists that they are in or scrolling through all of my songs. Does anyone know a quick, easy solution for this problem?
