How safe is using secret ios app from appstore to store important documents? Can the ios app creater of the app have access to my stuff when using their secrets app?Thanks

To OP, as a general rule, if you don't want anyone to look at your stuff, don't save it in their server storage. I doubt they'll look at their customers belongings just for the fun of it but I would still assume that they have the ability to do that.

The only app that I can find in the US App Store titled Timelock is an app for parents to limit usage on the device for children. What app store are you referring to? I'm guessing this is in the Apple App Store, or are you referring to something else?

My biggest worry would be data loss. I've seen numerous posts where people used third party apps to hide various types of files where people have lost access to their files. If something goes wrong with the app, depending on how good the support is, you may or may not be able to recover your information.

I think, based on the nature of iOS programs, that it's unlikely that the developers are getting access to your information.

Your best option is to put a complex passcode on your phone. Apple will not have access to your data nor will anyone else.

Thanks, I couldn't seem to find it this morning. It is difficult to tell from their information where the content is saved; the iOS device or their end. The other thing is about the statement regarding secure uploads with a browser. That makes me believe the content is stored somewhere besides the phone. I guess one would have to ask questions of the developer to be sure. Then again, I've not had time to really research this since I'm working.

Indeed... and the following statement on their site (https://www.protectstar.com/en/products/time-lock):

I conclude the videos/photos etc are stored (or backed up) on their site. They can't call it a backup if it's stored in one place, the iPad/iPhone.

I understand their response, and I also understand what encryption is. Not sure if you asked, or if they addressed this, is any of your content stored on their servers, or is everything just stored on your device?

So what do they mean by "secure uploads with a browser" and "backup"? Btw, if it's stored and encrypted on the device itself, iOS already encrypts the data by default. What exactly does the app offer other than hiding your photos behind a clock?

My question as well. What does a browser have to do with it, since the browser cannot access the iPhone. However, their offer to refund the cost could make one wish to test it, with a only a couple of stock photos that would not provide any information about the user.

The apps are checked to make sure they conform to Apple's rules for how apps should be written. Apple doesn't check things like what the developer does with information you have given them once it's transferred to the developer's server.

What kind of "secret iOS app" are you referring to? You need to provide more information for someone to respond to you.

if it's not from apples app store then the developer can do what she/he wants so then It's a matter of trust I guess
