I have an iPhone 6s Plus. I am not pleased with its battery life. I have read that a case with a magnetic closure will turn off the phone when it is closed. I would like to know if anyone has such a case, and that it does turn the phone off to conserve the battery.
If not then I will have to go to some form of extended battery pack, but which one will be another question.

What you may have heard about is the Apple case for the iPad, which DOES turn the iPad to sleep mode when you close it.
Thanks to all of you who replied-I guess I will be getting a battery pack-any suggestions there?

I haven't heard about such cases. Apart from that, turning your phone off and back on each time you open up the case will a) affect your battery life b) make you wait for about minute each time you want to check your mail. Not very convenient.
