Q: Notes synching between Macs, iOS, and iCloud

I have a strange issue going on.

I have 2 Macs (Macbook and iMac, both running Yosemite), and 2 iOS devices (iPad Mini, iPhone).

All are using the same iCloud account.

Calendars, and contacts work well, and all 4 devices synch.

However, the Notes are a different issue. The 2 iOS devices sync, and they have the same data that is on iCloud.com

The Macs sync with each other, but not with the iOS devices or iCloud.com

If I create/edit/delete a note on the iMac, the same change will be made on the Macbook, but not on iCloud.com or the iOS devices.

The iOS devices sync with each other and with iCloud.com

Even stranger, if I go to iCloud settings in system prefs on the iMac, and uncheck Notes, all my notes disappear. When I check the notes box, the notes re-populate, but not with the info from iCloud.com (or the iOS devices).

I deleted the ~/Library/com.apple.notes directory on the iMac, and then turned off Notes in the iCloud system prefs, rebooted the iMac, and turned it back on. Nothing different - it still syncs with the Macbook, but not with iCloud.com

I also tried signing in and out of iCloud on the Mac. Again nothing different happened.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the notes on the Macs to sync with iCloud.com and the iOS devices?

If your devices are using IOS 9.0.2 or higher, did you upgrade the iCloud status in the Notes app on the devices? This will prevent them from syncing with the computers, which are not using an upgraded version of Notes. To enable syncing, the computers need to upgrade to OS 10.11 and the Notes application in 10.11 will need to have the iCloud upgrade.
